  <p class="">Last month, you shared your thoughts with us through our feedback form and we analysed every single response. The good, the bad, and the brutally honest. Thanks to the huge number of submissions, <strong>we feel confident using this feedback to help us shape the future of Rust Console Edition for 2026.<br></strong><br>One thing stood above everything else. <span data-text-attribute-id="1649e3ad-a250-4811-8078-518391f4c05b" class="sqsrte-text-highlight"><span><strong>Performance matters the most.<br><br></strong></span></span>When we ask you to pick the two things you care about most while playing, smooth performance came out on top with 71.3%, followed by server stability at 37.3% and content updates at 32.8%. Then we asked you what the priorities of the team should be in your opinion, between performance, bug fixing, and content, and the answer was even louder. 84.3% of you chose performance as your number one priority, with content and bug fixing nearly tied behind it.<br><br><strong>Because of that, our main focus for Q1 2026 will be performance and server stability.</strong> We want the game to be in a strong place before rolling out major updates, so getting the fundamentals right comes first.<br></p>

  <p class="">Among all the interesting data points, it was great to see that most of you are really happy with how the game looks on New Gen consoles, and more than 80% of you feel highly motivated to keep playing after each wipe. <strong>But something that stood out even more was how many of you asked for bigger maps and higher player limits per server…</strong> so let’s talk about that.<br><br>Bigger maps and higher population servers are on our priority list, and we really want to bring them to the game. But adding them right now would hit performance hard, and that’s not something we’re willing to risk while we’re focused on stability.<br><br>So here’s the plan. First we will focus on performance, once this is in a good place we can move towards bigger maps and higher player population. That will then unlock the&nbsp; World 2.0 update bringing with it new cliffs, rivers, canyons, oasis, lakes and rock formations. Together, this effectively outlines our plans for early 2026, although we are not able to provide confirmed dates just yet. We want to be upfront that not everything mentioned here may land within the first four months, but this is the direction we’re heading and we’re excited to get there with you.<br><br><strong>For transparency's sake, bigger maps and higher pop servers will roll out gradually. We plan to start with 4.25k maps and a 125 player cap, and expand from there over time, as performance allows.</strong><br><br>Something else we want to bring in 2026 is more server providers to give you more choice, along with a special partner program that will help community servers stand out even more. <strong>This program will feature some of the best community servers in a dedicated list, making it easier to find high quality places to play.</strong> We’re still working through the details, but fairness and player experience are at the core of it. The Christmas event will begin on December 12th and will only be available for a limited time.&nbsp;</p></li></ul><ul data-rte-list="default"><li><p class="">Added Arctic Research Base. It’s a new arctic biome exclusive monument filled with various lab modules and buildings scattered around the base. Here players can unlock Snowmobiles after completing a puzzle.</p></li><li><p class="">Added Snowmobiles. Located within the Arctic Base, Snowmobiles are a new mode of transportation that is fast on snow and sand, and slow everywhere else.</p></li><li><p class="">Added Polar Bears. The strongest and most hostile animal in the world, Polar Bears will only spawn in the arctic biome. It yields extra resources when harvested compared to the regular bear.</p></li><li><p class="">Added Metal Detectors. Metal detectors allow players to find metal objects hidden beneath the ground.</p></li><li><p class="">Hides the map seed information when in Streamer Mode.</p></li><li><p class="">Sleeping Bag limit has increased to 15, and now shows in the actively selected sleeping bag shows on the map.</p></li><li><p class="">Items now show the name of the player who created the item and how it was made. Only unstackable items support ownership.</p></li><li><p class="">Deployables can now be snapped into place when players are ready to place an object. Available in two options: Simple and Advanced which can be changed in the settings.</p></li><li><p class="">Press “A/Cross” to confirm a building option and to lock it in place before releasing “L2/LT”.&nbsp;</p></li><li><p class="">“No Construction” red zones show up when players are around monuments when using construction tools.&nbsp;</p></li><li><p class="">Oil Rig now produces a low but consistent radiation 30 minutes after the hacked crate is unlocked.   <p class="">The biggest arrival is the new Arctic research base monument. The Cobalt team pushed deeper into the island and set up operations in this harshest environment.   <p class="">You will find this new monument exclusively in the snow biome. Its structure is wide open just like the desert base, which makes navigation simple but also leaves you exposed. Scientists patrol every corner and players nearby can spot you quickly, so entering without a plan is a great way to end up back on the beach. Prepare well and move with purpose.</p><p class="">Inside the facility you will discover generous loot and two blue puzzle rooms. In our latest feedback form, about 80 percent of you mentioned wanting faster rotations, and we would love to give you something that feels a little more exciting each week. Creating new skins takes time and plenty of testing, but we always try to improve the experience where we can.   <p class="">This update introduces the Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS), your new favorite way to settle disputes from a distance! You will need two key components to make it rain rockets: both these components are obtainable from Locked Crates.</p><p class=""> <strong>- </strong><span data-text-attribute-id="a50cf38a-5d31-40da-ab15-6a8f5e127b64" class="sqsrte-text-highlight"><strong>MLRS Rockets</strong> provide powerful ammunition designed for pure destruction.</span></p><p class=""> <strong>- </strong><span data-text-attribute-id="ed4fa4f2-b48b-471b-bf4b-37c3c4d0cb73" class="sqsrte-text-highlight"><strong>MLRS Aiming Module</strong> is crucial for precision targeting before unleashing your barrage. </span></p><p class="">Once it’s all set in place, you can visit the Abandoned Military Base where the MLRS is located, and by interacting with it and selecting the right coordinates. You will be able to make it rain on your enemies in the worst way possible. Be sure to coordinate with your team, pick your target, and let the explosions do the talking.<br><br><strong>Note:</strong> <span data-text-attribute-id="1a4df6dd-b818-4722-99d2-b457bb3268bf" class="sqsrte-text-highlight"><em>Each MLRS Aiming Module is only valid for one time use.   <p class="">Once you have collected the aforementioned body parts, you can craft a Frankenstein’s Table on a tier 1 workbench - default blueprint for this deployable will be available while the Halloween Event is active.<br><br>Once crafted and deployed, add the body parts to the table’s inventory - you don’t need matching body parts to make your monster, you can mix and match between Light, Medium and Heavy parts to customize your own! You can always re-work your monster by returning them to the Frankenstein's table to swap out body parts by choosing the ‘Sleep’ option on the command wheel which can be accessed using the Gesture Wheel.</p>

An overlay will reveal the top 10 Candy Hunters and the time left before the event vanishes. Each haunting round lasts a brief 3 minutes—so grab as many glowing Candies as you can before the darkness claims them.</p><p class="">The Candies will spawn within your field of vision and shimmer with an eerie glow, making them easy to spot. When the event ends, the top 5 hunters will be rewarded with loot based on their performance.   <h3><span class="sqsrte-text-color--accent"><strong>NEW DLCs AVAILABLE TODAY!</strong></span></h3><p class="">This month we are dropping not one but two new DLC packs for Rust Console Edition. The Frontiersman Hazmat and Tool Bundle comes with a rugged frontier style hazmat suit, a hatchet skin, and a double barrel shotgun skin, giving you that wild west survivor look. The Frontier Decor Pack brings a set of cosmetic items to style your base, including saloon bar doors, rocking chairs, and plenty more. <span data-text-attribute-id="48df872a-829c-4318-91d9-3feb8bb37d94" class="sqsrte-text-highlight">While the wanted posters will not be available right away, the team is already working on adding them in a future update</span>.   <h3><span class="sqsrte-text-color--accent">WIPE OF WIPES ✨</span></h3><p class="">This upcoming wipe will mark the final wipe for the old gen version of Rust Console Edition on <strong>PS4 and Xbox One</strong>. After this, those versions will no longer be supported and their servers will go offline. Since the old gen edition is such an important part of our history, we wanted to give it a proper send off. To do that, we are turning this last wipe into a mini live event. Nothing too wild, but you can expect a few curveballs to shake up the gameplay every couple of days and keep things exciting. Because of the experimental nature of this event, there may be times when things break or when a map needs to be wiped unexpectedly, but we will be monitoring it closely to keep it as stable and fun as possible. This live event format will only take place on old gen servers, while new gen wipes will continue as normal.</p>

  <h3><span class="sqsrte-text-color--accent"><strong>SPOOKY SEASON RETURNS</strong></span></h3><p class="">It wouldn’t be October without some creepy surviving experiences. Rust Console Edition’s Halloween Event is ready to start around mid October and this year we are adding something brand new. Say hello to Frankenstein! (Franky for the friends)</p><p class="">You will be able to create your very own pet monster who can follow you around, help you in fights, or just keep you company. Along with Frankenstein, all the features you loved from last year’s event will be returning, plus a fresh set of Halloween skins dropping later in the season.</p><p class="">Spooky season is one of our favorites, and the dev team loves seeing what the community creates during this event. Coin balances quickly became a concern so we made changes in our backend to make sure everyone got the coins they were meant to have.</p><p class="">Not long after, <strong>Microsoft </strong>fixed the entitlement issues on their side and that caused the coins to be granted again. This meant some players ended up with double the amount of coins. To bring everything back in line we had to revert our backend fix which removed the extra coins that had been added.</p><p class="">We completely understand why this sudden disappearance of coins could be alarming or confusing without any context from our side, and we’re sorry that we couldn’t find a way to communicate this with you sooner or as things were happening in real time.Those extra coins were never supposed to be there in the first place, and because of the way the transactions were logged they were not pulled back right away. That delay is why the adjustments are only showing now. It can look like some of your recent Rust Coin purchases have been taken away but that is not the case. Only the extra coins have been removed and your purchased coins are safe.</p>

  <h4>To make this easier to understand we want to share two practical examples that show what happens behind the scenes and how everything is calculated:</h4>

  <h3><span><span class="sqsrte-text-color--accent">Case 1</span></span></h3><ol data-rte-list="default"><li><p class="">Player purchased the ultimate edition but in error were not granted the entitled 4600 Rust Coins.</p></li><li><p class="">Rather than have people wait, we decided to issue the 4600 RC on our end to the players.</p></li><li><p class="">While we&nbsp; thought this was the end of it, some time had passed and then the platform issued the 4600 RC entitlement.</p></li><li><p class="">The player balance is now 9200 RC</p></li><li><p class="">Player spends 4000 RC</p></li><li><p class="">We correct for the duplicate credit taking 4600rc off that player <strong>(Point 2)</strong></p></li><li><p class="">The player is left with 600rc which is correct as they were entitled to 4600rc and spend 4000rc.</p></li></ol>

  <h3><span><span class="sqsrte-text-color--accent">Case 2</span></span></h3><ol data-rte-list="default"><li><p class="">Player purchased the Deluxe Edition but in error were not granted the entitled 1100 Rust Coins.</p></li><li><p class="">Just like in <strong>case 1</strong>, we decided to issue the 1100 RC on our end to the players.</p></li><li><p class="">Some time later the platforms also granted the missing entitlement for the 1100 RC Deluxe coins.</p></li><li><p class="">Player balance is now 2200 RC.</p></li><li><p class="">Player spends 1500 RC.</p></li><li><p class="">Player buys 500 RC.</p></li><li><p class="">Balance of 1200 RC.</p></li><li><p class="">Player spends 1200 RC</p></li><li><p class="">We correct for the duplicate 1100 RC off that player <strong>(Point 2)</strong></p></li><li><p class="">If a player’s RC balance was below 1100 Rust Coins before we retracted the extra coins, their Rust Coins would be in the negative once retracted. But In order to avoid confusing players with negative balances, we set up the system not to let the RC balance go below 0.</p></li></ol>

  <p class="">Hope the above cases offers some clarity on the issue.<br><br>This situation was in no way pre-empted as we have never faced such an issue in the lifetime of Rust CE. However, we did our best to resolve it in the best possible way and provide you with the utmost clarity on the what, when and how of it. <br><br>We have just started looking into the best ways for displaying your Transaction History in-game, so you will be able to track every credit and debit on your account in real time.</p><p class="">We’re also exploring our options for better in-game messaging, so even if you’re not on social media or Discord, you’ll still stay in the loop with important updates and news directly inside the game.</p><p class="">Both of these are on our to-do list for the future, we will share more details on these features in a future content roadmap.</p>

On top of that we are also <strong>introducing the Junkyard monument</strong>. This update brings a whole new way to move around the island and makes exploring faster and more exciting than ever before. Out in the world you will be able to find different types of chassis and, if you have the right modules, you can start building your own custom ride. Want something speedy? Throw on more engine modules. Prefer something tough for you and your squad to roll up to a raid in? Go for a heavier setup with extra protection. Modular vehicles are not just useful, they are also a blast to put together and really open up new possibilities for gameplay.   <p class="">Alongside modular vehicles you will also find pedal bikes and motorbikes making their way into Rust Console Edition. Pedal bikes can be found out in the world and are a fast and silent way to move around early on without the need for fuel. Motorbikes bring more speed and power but will require fuel to keep them running. Both are solid choices depending on how you want to play. Now you can turn an enemy into your captive instead of just dropping them where they stand. Throw them in cuffs, slap a bag over their head, and drag them back to base to lock up in a homemade jail. Keep them there long enough and they are not coming back for revenge any time soon. Or, if you are feeling extra devious, you can use them as leverage when dealing with other players.   <h3><span class="sqsrte-text-color--accent">GUARDING THE ISLAND </span></h3><p class="">We are happy to report that <strong>RUSTGUARD is doing its job extremely well</strong>. A solid number of players using third-party devices to cheat have been banned, some temporarily and a few permanently. The most important part is that we are seeing far less usage of these devices overall. Player numbers have not been affected, but the amount of cheaters has dropped by more than two thirds, from what was a small number to begin with. <strong>We are very pleased with the results of RUSTGUARD and will keep improving it to ensure the island stays fair and fun for everyone.</strong> Thank you all for the continued support.</p>

  <p class="">First, since we’ve been seeing a lot of confusion about what cheaters can and can’t actually do. The number of reports we’ve received for things like wallhacks, aimbots, and other cheats that aren’t even possible on console is pretty concerning.</p><p class="">I won’t make this section too long since there’s a lot to cover in this blog, but to keep it simple: <strong>things like god mode on official servers, wallhacks, or aimbot just aren’t possible on consoles</strong>. Cheats like that require tampering with game files, and on platforms like Xbox and PlayStation, that kind of interference simply isn’t possible.&nbsp;</p>





















  
  



&nbsp;


  <h3><span class="sqsrte-text-color--accent"><strong>So what counts as cheating, then?</strong></span></h3><p class="">Cheating is using third party devices that either make parts of the game way easier or give a player an unfair advantage over others in a PVP scenario. Right now, there are only two instances that we consider cheating. One is the use of scripts that provide a game advantage. And the other is using external devices to enable mouse and keyboard to be used when playing the game, even when it’s not officially supported.</p><p class="">Fairness has always been a priority for both the community and our team. <strong>We’ve been building up the anti-cheat system for a while now, and we're ready to crack down on anyone using or promoting unfair third party devices in Rust Console Edition.</strong></p>

  <h3><span class="sqsrte-text-color--accent">Introducing the RustGuard</span></h3><p class="">Recently, we ran a live test of phase one of our new anti-cheat system, which focused on the warning system. The first wave of messages was intentionally sent to a larger group of users so we could fully test the tool and ensure everything was working as intended <em>(sorry, we didn’t mean to scare anyone)</em>. That test is now complete, and it was a success, which means phase two of <strong>RustGuard starts now</strong>.</p><p class="">Beginning next week, any players detected using third party devices will receive a ban. Starting this first wave, we’re offering one redemption opportunity where the ban will only be 3 days. But if the same player is caught again after that, the ban will be permanent.</p><p class="">We’ve collected a lot of data, run extensive internal testing, and recorded zero false flags. That gives us full confidence in the system. Because of that, all bans will be final.</p>

  <h3><span class="sqsrte-text-color--accent">Beyond Just Cheating</span></h3><p class="">We know this is an ongoing battle, and keeping the anti-cheat system strong requires constant updates and effort. That is why we truly appreciate the support from users who continue to report suspicious behavior. Every report counts, whether it happens in game or on platforms where cheating content is being shared. Discord, for example, has strict rules against cheating. It is absolutely possible to get a server taken down if it promotes cheat tools or services, as long as it is reported properly. So if you come across any servers, pages, or posts promoting this kind of content, make sure to report them directly through the platform they are using.</p><p class="">Promoting or selling scripts for cheat devices is just as serious. <strong>Advertising these tools is a clear violation of the Rust Console Edition Terms of Service</strong>. Anyone involved in this is not only breaking the rules resulting in a game ban, but they are also putting themselves at real risk. We are not going to sit back and let it slide. If we need to take legal action against individuals or groups promoting or selling cheats, we will.</p>

This will let you be a lot more expressive with eight brand new gestures, including a rock-paper-scissors minigame for those crucial moments when you need to settle important disputes.   <p class="">The Public Test Branch <strong>(PTB)</strong> will soon be open to Deluxe and Ultimate edition users! Right now, we are working behind the scenes to make sure that access is set up properly, working closely with the platforms to get everything ready. You can expect the first content update to land on PTB July 31st or soon after.</p><p class="">This is a big one, and we are counting on you to help us squash any bugs and report anything weird you come across.   <h3><span class="sqsrte-text-color--accent"><strong>YOUR CONCERNS, OUR FOCUS</strong></span></h3><p class="">We know there are a few lingering issues that some of you have been dealing with. One of the main ones right now is the missing Dark Camo AK skin from player inventories, along with some missing coins and negative coin balances when switching between versions. The good news is the missing AK skin should be fixed with the bug fix update coming to the main branch by the end of this month.</p><p class="">As for the coin balance issues, the team is actively investigating alongside the platform teams. These things take time because we want to make sure no one gets left out and that everything is properly sorted.&nbsp;</p><p class="">We have also seen the feedback around vehicles and map size. While bigger maps are not coming just yet, this is something we would love to explore in the future. Once testing starts on larger map configurations, we will be sure to share more details.</p>
